The Bradstreet Fireclay Farmhouse Kitchen Sink: Designing with the Sink in Mind

We’ve recently added fireclay to our product portfolio. While we primarily offer copper sinks, our focus is on quality, durability, value, sustainability, and customer satisfaction, regardless of the material. Copper sinks deliver on these criteria, but we have expanded our offerings to include new material and color options. Fireclay sinks maintain the same high standards of quality and value.

Our Bradstreet Reversible Fireclay sink offers you two options of apron front facing. One side is a sleek and simple design, while the other side has just a hint of detail to perfectly match whatever style kitchen you have. The 30-inch Bradstreet fireclay farmhouse sink is designed to be a durable and beautiful centerpiece in your kitchen. Fireclay sinks are fired at extreme temperatures to bond clay and glaze which form a highly durable finish that resists stains, heat, and chipping. Variations in exact dimensions will occur due to the handmade nature of all Sinkology kitchen sinks. We protect all of our kitchen sinks with a full lifetime warranty.

For this design, we were inspired by the fact that while these sinks are classic and timeless, they can also fit in modern kitchens. With accents like wood, cork, and vibrant colors, this sink complements any style. Cork is great for contemporary design, usable on countertops for fire resistance, sound insulation, and heat/cold insulation. It can also be placed on walls for reminders, mail, or kids’ artwork. Bright colors like reds, oranges, or teals liven up the space, complementing the sink’s crisp white. Adding floral accents brings a fresh, bright, and vibrant feel to your kitchen.

The Sinkology + Pfister Kits

Along with the timeless look of the white fireclay, we chose new Pfister faucets to pair with our newest sinks. The Pfister faucets come with their Pforever seal, advanced ceramic disc valve technology with a never leak guarantee. Our Sinkology + Pfister kits are available at The Home Depot. The kits comes with the many choices of faucets and also includes a stainless bottom grid to help protect your sink even more. A heavy duty drain, a breeze scrubber and our CareIQ Kit to help keep your sink clean.

While fireclay sinks are super easy to clean and maintain, and are scratch proof, it’s still important to keep your kitchen sink sanitized and free of clutter. Sinkology has recently released a collection of sponges called the Breeze Non-Scratch Scrubber. These sponges are ideal for scrubbing kitchen fireclay sinks, pots and pans, or copper bar and prep sinks without scratching them. They are lightly lavender-scented and made from 100% silicone. The sponges dry quickly and resist odor-causing bacteria, mold, and mildew. They come in packages of  3 or 6.

Why Fireclay?

Fireclay is a mixture of clay and glaze fired at extremely high temperatures (1600-2200 degrees). It is extremely durable, heat-resistant, chip-resistant, and scratch-resistant. Fireclay sinks are easy to care for and maintain. They look similar to enameled cast iron sinks but have advantages. Unlike cast iron, fireclay can handle abrasive cleaners and is less prone to scratching. While both are heavy, Sinkology fireclay sinks weigh nearly 30% less than cast iron sinks. Additionally, if fireclay chips, the damage is less conspicuous than with cast iron.

Because of all these benefits, fireclay sinks are the clear front runner over enameled cast iron, but the best part is the value. While fireclay outmatches enameled cast iron in quality, durability, and more; it also outmatches it in price. With Sinkology, our fireclay farmhouse kitchen sinks come in at about 2/3 of the cost of most cast iron farmhouse sinks. For more Designing with the Sink in mind inspiration, check out the rest of our blog.
