Before and After: Rockwell Copper Double Basin Farmhouse Sink
July 10, 2024Sinkology is proud to present Kendra Williams, a home decor expert, DIYer, furniture refinisher, and busy mom as a guest blogger. Kendra runs the blog at Momtique and she is here to share some design ideas and inspiration around designing your home with copper and around your copper sink.
No matter how much I would love to, I cannot change my sink. I’ve been a renter for over four years now, which means I have to be content with my kitchen just the way it is. Often, I daydream about my current kitchen and all of its untapped potential. I often say to myself (and my husband), “How amazing would a copper farmhouse sink look with quarts countertops and white cabinets?” Because I can’t change my current kitchen situation, you could probably imagine how excited I was when my parents told me they were going to do a small kitchen update. Before the remodel, the kitchen had brown cabinets, outdated linoleum flooring, and a standard sink. Now, their kitchen is updated and totally their style.
First, they painted the cabinets. For those of you who have painted your kitchen cabinets yourself, you know how much work it entails. My mom did a great job and now has the pride that comes with knowing she accomplished it herself. They chose to paint the cabinets gray. In a world where it seems like almost everyone is painting their cabinets (and everything else) white, I was eager to see how the gray and the copper would complement each other.
Second, was the installation of the sink. This is when the real fun began. What a transformation! Goodbye run-of-the-mill, standard sink and faucet, and hello brand new beautiful (full of character) Rockwell Copper Farmhouse Sink. The last step in their renovation, was the addition of the hardwood style floors.
Although my parent’s kitchen has come a long way, they aren’t finished yet. The last change, yet to come, will be new countertops. My parents actually had the original tile countertops matched and set around their new sink but after thinking about it for a few days, they felt that the entire kitchen would look more updated, and true to their style, if they could add new, lighter, sleeker countertops. I’m voting for a bright quarts (Quartz?) countertop.
Now, the kitchen is equipped with an updated wood style flooring, beautifully painted gray cabinets and, most importantly, the Rockwell Copper Double Basin Farmhouse Sink. Although the project is not completely finished, my parents are so pleased with the outcome. How could they not be? I love the look they’ve created and can’t wait to spend family gatherings socializing in their marvelous kitchen.
I’m a big fan of before and after photos. They give me hope and inspiration to start and finish all the different projects I have going on in my head. Look at this transformation:
I was so pleased to see that the gray cabinets complimented the Rockwell Copper Farmhouse Sink so wonderfully. Even though my parents still want new countertops, I think the tile and dark grout goes well with the cabinets and copper sink. I love it all! You can really see how the sink is now the focal point of the kitchen. My parents get compliments on it all the time.
Thank you all for letting me take you on a mini tour of my parent’s kitchen. The transformation is amazing, and they are so happy with their “new” kitchen.
