The Adams: Designing with the Sink in Mind
July 19, 2024The perfect Farmhouse kitchen. We’ve all dreamt about it, just admit it. Crisp and clean white cabinets, warm and soft pumpkin colored walls, while you’re making your morning cup of coffee in your favorite sweater on a perfect fall morning, and basking in the glory of your fabulous Sinkology Adams apron front sink. That’s everyone’s dream kitchen, right? Well, it should be. And the Adams (1) is the perfect sink for that rustic farmhouse kitchen. The design will make it a centerpiece of the room while the color lends itself to that warm, cozy farmhouse palette.
The Adams is one of our largest and best selling farmhouse copper sinks. Measuring in at 33″ X 22″ X 9″, this sink is ready to take on a farm-sized family. The apron wraps 2.5” on each side which allows for wonderful options in how your sink is installed and displayed. The Adams is handcrafted from pure solid copper and is finished in a beautiful and durable antique copper finish. With hassle-free installation, effortless care, and a lifetime warranty, it’s bound to fit your lifestyle and be a focal point in any home.
When designing this particular room around the Adams, we chose white cabinets and a white subway backsplash. The clean look of the backsplash and cabinets, not only brighten up the room, they really make the Adams pop. Considering our solid white background, we chose a granite counter top that brings in earthy tones to complement the copper in the sink, while also bringing in flecks of white to tie with the cabinets and backsplash. This setup allows for nearly limitless options in terms of your accent colors. We chose a warm, pumpkin color for the walls, which other accents like reds and greens really make this space feel cozy. Choosing a modern pattern curtain will help bring some freshness to the overall look of your space.
When choosing accessories, we selected items that focus on old-world practicality with a modern twist. The Wright kitchen sink bottom grid (2) is an exclusive Sinkology product designed specifically for the Adams farmhouse sink. The antique brown vinyl coating not only protects the sink’s finish, but is also designed to protect your dishes from chips and cracks as a result of dropping and stacking dishes in the copper basin. We’ve also selected an antique copper basket strainer (3) for those single-bowl setups that don’t have a garbage disposal.
When choosing hardware for your cabinets, drawers, and outlets, you want to choose one that accentuates the metal in your copper sink. We chose a classic copper pull knob and a handle that has a slight accent of a floral pattern, just to give your cabinets an even more classic farmhouse feel. The outlet covers are just as important, bringing the copper sink and the hardware tones from the cabinets together. We also styled this room around original hardwood floors. Now, we know we might not all be so lucky to actually live in an old farmhouse with original hardwood floors, but again, we can dream. Hardwood with a couple accent rugs would really bring this whole look home… on the range (we couldn’t help ourselves).
