Effortless Installation with BILT®

Getting Started
This procedure will assist you with installing the Sinkology Kitchen or Bar Drop-In Sink.
- DIY
- Drop-In
- Not all drop-in kitchen sinks require mounting hardware
- If your kitchen sink does not come with mounting brackets, Sinkology recommends securing your sink with 100% silicone and expandable foam.
Ensure that your new Sink is at least as large as your existing sink. If the new Sink is smaller, you will need to either replace your
counter-top or exchange the new Sink for one that is at least as large as your old sink. Most Sinkology Sinks can be installed as an undermount or drop-in. If your Sink has a one-half inch or smaller rim, it was designed for undermount installation only.
What You’ll Need
Carpenters Square, Level, Tape Measure, Power Drill, Hole Saw, Electric Jigsaw, Jigsaw Blade, Phillips Head Screwdriver, 100% N-C Silicone Sealant, Plumber’s Putty, Painter’s Tape, Scissors, Carpenter’s Pencil, Water-Soluble Marker, Utility Knife, Safety Glasses, Safety Glooves, and Craft Paper.
Depending on your type of counter-top, you may also need a Pull-Saw, a Router with a Bevel Bit, a Rotary Tool with a Grinding Bit, or an Oscillating Tool.
Instructions
- Place the new Sink upside down onto the Paper, and trace the Sinks outside edge.
- Remove the Sink and draw a second line one-half inch inside the first line.
- Cut out the center of the template along the second line. Note: Trim the template slowly, often checking that it is matching the shape of the Sink. If you have trouble with the first template, do not hesitate to make another.
- Turn off the water supply and disconnect the plumbing.
- Remove any existing fixtures and countertop if necessary.
- Note: Painters Tape is required to prevent chipping on wood-based countertops and is optional on other materials. If you plan to use a Wet Saw to cut your countertop, you should omit the Tape and mark the countertop directly with a water soluble Marker.
- Find and lightly mark the centerline of where your Sink will be installed. Note: The center will often be where the cabinet doors meet, but your cabinet may vary.
- Measure the width of the Sink side to side. On the countertop, measure and lightly mark exactly half that distance on both sides from the center.
- Using a Square and a Pencil, draw light lines through all three marks, perpendicular to the front of the countertop.
- Apply Painters Tape to the countertop just inside the outer lines.
- Measure the exact distance the rear of the Sink should sit from the back edge of the countertop, mark it on all three lines, and apply a line of Painters Tape to the countertop just in front of the three marks.
- Measure the length of the Sink front to back. On the countertop, measure and mark that distance forward from the rear line.
- Apply Painters Tape to the countertop behind the line.
- Center and align your Template to the lines on the countertop.
- If any countertop shows below the edge of the Template, apply additional Tape to the counter-top to cover them, then recenter the Template.
- Trace the edge of the Template onto the countertop.
- Note: As you are cutting the countertop, remember to remove less material at first, then make adjustments to trim to its finished shape. Ruining a countertop by cutting too far is impossible to fix and expensive to replace.
- Use a 1 1/2 inch Hole Saw to cut a starting hole inside each corner of the traced cut line.
- Cut the installation hole in the countertop along the traced cut line.
- Temporarily position the Sink to double-check that it fits properly. If necessary, make adjustments to the hole.
- Remove the Sink, then remove all tape from the countertop.
- Apply 100% Neutral-Cure Silicone Sealant around the edge of the hole.
- Place the notched end of all the Claw Bolts into the keyhole slots.
- Note: Some Sinkology Copper Sinks feature Rear Deck Brackets that are designed for hardware with two Claws per Bolt. The first Claw (closest to the Bracket Bolt tip) will sit against the underneath of the Sink rim, and the second Claw will be used to grab under-neath the countertop.
- Lower the Sink carefully into the countertop so that all Sink Claws enter without interference.
- Turn the Claw Hooks out 90 degrees so they will grasp the underside of the countertop.
- Note: Claw Hooks can be bent to accommodate larger or smaller gaps.
- Tighten the Claw Bolts evenly so the Hooks securely grasp the underside of the countertop firmly.
- Disassemble the Drain Assemblies, and discard the white paper washers. Clean and dry all other parts and the Sink.
- Apply Plumber’s Putty under the outer flange of both Drains.
- Place the Drains in the drain holes.
- Wipe away any excess Plumber’s Putty.
- Place the Strainers in the Drains.
- Place the Rubber Washers on the Drains, and attach them using the Large Metal Nuts.
- Create a smooth seal around the Sink’s upper rim using 100% Neutral-Cure Silicone Sealant.
- Note: Allow the Sealant time to cure properly before using the Sink.
- Install the faucet.
- Reconnect the plumbing, turn on the water supply, check for leaks, and repair if needed.
Congratulations, this completes the installation of the Sinkology Drop-In Sink.
